ASK Restorations was founded on the 1st
of January 2000, with the intention to provide all aspects of vehicle restoration services
in-house and to utilise the most up-to-date technology (the Internet
and digital photography) to keep remote customers fully informed of
progress on their pet projects. My original business philosophy was
to cater for whatever work a customer’s vehicle required, and since
that date I have not only been working on a wide variety of classic
and vintage vehicles, but have been refining the premises so that I
can offer all the services intended. These include paint
refinishing, welding (MIG & Gas), panel beating, ash framing, bead
blasting and interior re-trimming (inc carpets and headlining).
Occasionally there are some services I am unable to offer on- site,
(e.g if the specific work is highly-specialised in nature such as
major engine rebuilds, rechroming etc) but I have established an
excellent network of highly-qualified contacts to whom I can
outsource the work.
Although my past and
current workload has featured vehicles ranging from a Morris 8 to a
MK2 Jaguar and even to a David Brown 25C Tractor, my main area of
vehicle expertise lies in the Classic Mini (1959-2001). I have a
large personal stock of Minis mostly requiring restoration, (some of
which are not for sale at any price). For Minis I have assembled a
wide range of second-hand and new spares and accessories. What I
don’t have in stock I can usually get within 24hrs. Having owned
Minis since I was 17, and having recently restored a 1960 Morris
Mini Super Deluxe from orchard find to show stopper there is not
much I don’t or can’t do with the REAL Mini. To see for yourself
click the Past Projects link on the left.
Now I am in the position
of having restored vehicles to a very high standard from minor
cosmetics to total rebuilds for satisfied clients as far afield as
Liverpool and as close as Dunnet. Also I have sourced vehicles from
all corners of Britain to restore to customer’s specification or for
customers looking for a vehicle to personal restore. With spacious
workshops combined with modern and period tools and equipment, and a
comprehensive stock of parts, I am quite proud of what I have proved
can be achieved with a little vision and a lot of enthusiasm.
If you have an
unfinished project, a four-wheeled family heirloom in need of TLC, a
sense of frustration over hard-to-get parts, or you feel the need to
swap yarns or accessories, then a cup of coffee is usually on the go
in the Far North. You will not be disappointed and may even be
pleasantly surprised! If I can’t help with actual work or parts,
then friendly advice can be had for the cost of an e-mail or phone
call.
