At ASK Restorations service is paramount- we
try to provide the best service at the most competitive price. Among
the services we provide are…………
In our purpose built blasting room all traces
of paint and corrosion will be removed from your vehicle/parts down
to the bare substrate. Only with this process will you be certain to
rid yourself of corrosion, there is also the time factor as blasting
is much quicker than the old way of a scraper and elbow grease!
Occasionally you can get really tough old underseal or sealant,
where a scraper may be required as the blasting force required to
remove this can cause distortion unless extreme care is used. Once
down to the bare substrate you must get some primer on within a
couple of hours before moisture occurs, this comes in the form of
etch primer followed by 2pack Hi-Build primer. Once the primer is
applied this seals the substrate and then you are ready for any
necessary repairs. Or in the case of chassis, suspension parts and
wheels, primer and paint.

After the blasting has been done this is when
the welding repairs need to be carried out. These are done in our
restoration workshop where Mig, Spot and Gas Welding are done as
each restoration requires. Weld-through Zinc primer is used when
welding so as to ensure that the dreaded corrosion won’t be back in
the areas that you can’t see.

We use several products by a company called
Bilt Hamber who do a full range of rust curing and prevention,
please look at their website for detailed information, ASK can also
supply Bilt Hamber products, please email at the bottom of the page
your request.
Once
all the welding work has been done the next step is the preparation.
This is done in the paint workshop, and depending on the budget or
type of vehicle lead loading or standard filler will be used to
smooth out and re-shape any imperfections. Then an application of
polyester spray filler or polyester stopper is applied and blocked
down to achieve a perfect finish.

When all body repairs are done it is time for
priming & painting which is carried out in the spray booth. Here we
use a 2pack polyurethane primer and paint system for long lasting
durability and quality of finish. We can use cellulose for the older
more traditional vehicles if requested.

We
have on site the facilities to overhaul, repair or replace
suspension and brake parts back to factory condition no matter what
the requirements.

Although
we currently lack the comprehensive equipment needed to do all
aspects of engine work, we can offer a limited service on- site. We
can, however, quote for all major work due to the network of quality
subcontractors that we have built up who offer the same quality of
service and interest in classic vehicles which we do.

We
also offer interior re-trimming, be it leather-work, carpets, old or
new, one-off jobs or standard, we cater for all.
